Tim J Leary began his career in the creative arts in September of 1974 as a visual merchandiser and window display artist. In the same month he started drawing classes at Seminole Community College in Sanford, FL, which eventually led to an A.S. degree in Interior Design. Tim's career in visual merchandising and window display spanned 28 years and included work at Robinson's of Florida, Macy's, Walt Disney World, The Yale Co-op, and Emporium in San Francisco.

In 1992 Tim returned to school and earned a B.A. in "Studies in Creativity" at the Union Institute. He continued his education at Holy Names University in the Culture and Spirituality program, where he earned a Master of Arts degree. "Art-as-Meditation," a major component of the program, helped him to integrate his interests in spirituality and art. Tim's focus on creativity and art as meditative practice led to the study of Art Therapy at UC Berkeley, Extension, where he earned a Post-Master's Certificate in Art Therapy.

In 2000 Tim started a teaching career at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in San Francisco. He currently teaches classes in Drawing, Color and Design Theory, Creative Process and Social Psychology. Tim is the Coordinator of the Individual Development and Educational Assistance (IDEA) Center at FIDM in San Francisco where he oversees campus wide tutoring services, ADA accommodations and ESL training.
